Kennedy Waymer Scholarship Program

Eligibility Criteria & Award Details

The 2026 Kennedy Waymer Scholarship Program honors high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional character, academic commitment, leadership, resilience, humility, compassion, and determination. Each scholarship reflects the values Kennedy embodied and supports students as they continue pursuing excellence in education, athletics, service, and life.

Scholarship Awards

Kennedy A. Waymer Academic Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes a high-achieving student who demonstrates strong academic performance, leadership, and a commitment to community service.
Award Amount: $500
Kennedy A. Waymer Student-Athlete Scholarship
This scholarship honors a student-athlete who exemplifies sportsmanship, dedication, teamwork, perseverance, and determination both on and off the field.
Award Amount: $500
Childhood Cancer Courage Scholarship
This scholarship supports a student who has personally battled childhood cancer or has an immediate family member affected by pediatric cancer. This award celebrates resilience, strength, courage, and perseverance.
Award Amount: $1,000
“Live with Purpose” Character & Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes a student who demonstrates outstanding integrity, leadership, faith, compassion, and a positive impact within their school or community.
Award Amount: $500

General Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for any 2026 Kennedy Waymer Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a high school senior graduating in Spring 2026
  • Have a minimum 3.5 GPA
    Weighted or unweighted GPA accepted
  • Plan to attend an accredited 2-year college, 4-year university, or vocational/technical program
  • Submit all required application materials by the deadline
  • Demonstrate strong character, motivation, leadership, resilience, and commitment to personal growth

Additional Scholarship-Specific Criteria

Student-Athlete Scholarship

Applicants must:

  • Have participated in at least one varsity sport during high school
  • Submit a coach’s letter of recommendation

Childhood Cancer Courage Scholarship

Applicants must submit:

  • Medical verification or a personal/family statement confirming the childhood cancer journey
  • Evidence of resilience, advocacy, perseverance, or personal strength

2026 Application Requirements

A complete application must include:

  1. Online Application Form
  2. Official or Unofficial High School Transcript
  3. One Letter of Recommendation:
    May be from a teacher, counselor, coach, mentor, or community leader
  4. Personal Statement: 500–700 words
    Prompt: Describe how your personal journey, challenges, leadership, or goals reflect the values of strength, resilience, compassion, and determination. How will this scholarship support your future?
  5. Resume or Activity Sheet:
    Should include academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, community service, employment, leadership roles, honors, or awards.
  6. Optional Supporting Documentation:
    Examples include athletic verification, medical documentation for the cancer-related scholarship, awards, certificates, or additional evidence of achievement.
